an active boxer, manager and referee for nearly 25 years.
He started his boxing career at the age of 15 and fought until he was
25. He had only two amateur bouts before turning professional and fought
his way up through the weight classes.
Reihner boxed most of the time as a lightweight competing mostly within

record as a professional boxer.
Reihner was manager of six boxers from 1928 through 1933 with one of his
fighters competing in a lightweight title bout in Pittsburgh after
Reihner had sold his contract.
Reihner was licensed by the Pennsylvania Boxing Commission and served as
a referee from 1935 through 1939. He refereed both pro and amateur
bouts, including Golden Gloves tournaments.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 at the age of 39 and was never again
actively involved in boxing.
After returning from service, Reihner was employed as a machinist and
mould maker at Brockway Glass Co. until his retirement. |
