Graduate of Ohio State University
Covered local sports for 37 years for the Washington Observer-Reporter
Newspaper. He was a great storyteller and a better journalist. He played
a major role involving the High School, Collegiate and Professional
sports scene in Western Pennsylvania. He loved his job and loved the
kids he wrote about. His family was the sports scene he covered on a
daily basis. He is a legend in Washington, Pa.
Fred took pride in accuracy. His knowledge of sports was something to
admire and respect. He had a photographic memory and when he made a
statement, no one questioned its validity. Fred died in 1996.
