McGuffey High School
This astonishing sharpshooter won the Pennsylvania State Scholastic 2007
Individual Rifle Championship. Stephanie became the first girl in
Pennsylvania history to win this title. Learning how to shoot was a
natural part of growing up in her family. She was a naturally good shot
at the age of 6 using a .22 caliber rifle to hit three different size
swinging targets. She like hitting the smallest target.
Small was the 2007 WPIAL Senior Match Champion, the 2007 WPIAL Perfect
Season Award, Named to the 2006 and 2007 Pennsylvania All Tournament
Team, a 4 year letter winner, McGuffey Team Captain, member of 2006 and
2007 Pennsylvania State Championship Teams, member of 2005.2006 and 2007
WPIAL Runner-up teams and 2004 WPIAL 4th place team and member of 2005
and 2007 Section II Championship teams.
Small is an enrolled gifted student, she has maintained an A average,
ranking third in her class and expects to choose from the University of
Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, Notre Dame or Dartmouth as her next step in
becoming an engineer.
She has participated in a number of school organizations, such as Math
Club, Spanish Club Chemistry Olympic Team and is one of the Captains of
the McGuffey Band Color Guard. As a member of the McGuffey Technology
Association, Small and her team captured first place in the Pennsylvania
State Technology Association for Video Game Design.
