John Abel

During his tenure at Immaculate Conception High School, John Abel accomplished much. He scored 1,412 career points as a member of the high school basketball team and was the WPIAL leading score in 1978 with a game average of 31.5 points. Abel also scored 49 points in a single season game.

As of 1978, John Abel is Immaculate Conceptionís all-time leading scorer in a number of categories. He holds the single season points record with 693, highest career average with 22.8, career foul shots with 320, and 157 foul shots in a single season. John also holds the record for total career field goals and most field goals in a game, 546 and 22 respectively.

John earned an athletic scholarship to Saint Vincent College for basketball where he lettered four years and graduated with honors.
