Football
Cary Massaro was a three-year starter and letterman in football and
track at
Canon-McMillan High School from 1977-1979. He was an All-Western
Conference defensive tackle in 1979 and was named Second Team All-State.
At Clemson University, Massaro continued his football career and played
center on the 1981 National Championship Team. This Tigers team also won
the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1981 and 1982 and defeated Nebraska in
the 1981 Orange Bowl.
Massaro was named Offensive Player of the Game against North Carolina
State in 1982 and Offensive Lineman of the Game against Duke that same
year. He played in the 1982 Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan, and signed as a
free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in May of 1984.
Cary graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Education and a minor in Industrial Management.
