Member of the 1935 Cecil High School Class B Championship basketball
team
Played organized soccer before his 16th birthday
Local affiliations included:
Cuddy & Beadling soccer teams
Curry Vets of Pittsburgh
At age 30 selected as the starting goalie for the United States in the
1948 London Olympics.
Had 2 international appearances with the US National Team the same
year.
Declined an offer to play professional soccer for Belgium.
Invited to try out with the Brooklyn Dodgers at age 28.
Inducted into the Soccer Independent Athletic Alumni Association in
1973.
Inducted into the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of
Fame in 1978.
