• Covered high school sports for the Observer-Reporter from 1985 – 1992
• Covered W&J football from 1986 – 1991 and University of Pittsburgh basketball from 1986 – 1992
• Beat reporter for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1986 – 1991, covering two National League Championship series
• Worked as a color analyst for WJPA Radio and as a wrestling analyst for PCN
• Chosen by Wrestling USA Magazine as one of the top three wrestling writers in the nation – 1991
• Won a Golden Quill Award for Distinguished Achievement in Journalism in Western Pennsylvania – 2003
• Nominated for two other Golden Quill Awards in 2001 and 2004
• Sports stringer for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette in 1984, 1985 and 1996 – 2005
• Served 17 years as a youth baseball coach in Washington and was an assistant on the 1998 Pony team that advanced to the championship game
• Assistant coach for the 1994 champion Washington Mustangs and the 1997 Pony League East Zone champions
• Former member of the Baseball Writers of America Association

• Currently serves as Monessen High School Athletic Director

• President of the Tri-County Athletic Directors Association

• Member of the WPIAL Steering Committee, Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association, National Interscholastic Association of Athletic Administrators, WPIAL Athletic Directors Association

• Tri-County Coach of the Year committee and banquet Master of Ceremonies

• Long time statistician for Washington High School football: 1980-1985 & 1992-1996

• Assistant baseball coach at Monessen High School: 2002 - 2003

• John’s father, Domenic, was inducted into the Washington-Greene chapter in 2003
